Anna Boynton Thompson was born in 1848 in Portland, Maine, the daughter of Harriot Boynton (Sawyer) and William A. Thompson. She attended Radcliffe College between 1884 and 1902, receiving her A.B. in 1898 and her A.M. in 1899. Anna Boynton Thompson was a teacher of Greek and history at Thayer Academy in Braintree, Massachusetts, until her retirement in 1920.
